Sony kills Xbox One -where now for MS

Well done SONY!!!

Maybe that will help show these mega corps that users value their liberty.

Will MS take that on board for their operating systems? Only if there is a viable alternative which does not seek to control and manipulate the users.

It might be coming.

Well looks like Sony hit the nail on the head, and actually listened.

I am not a big consol gamer, but I would buy a PS4 over an XBone simply because of the always connected and DRM crap. I live in the sticks and have pretty good satalite internet, but it would suck to have a couple days of heavy storms and I can't watch TV and I have no internet so I couldn't even play a game a or two, not even single player.

For that matter because I don't game alot, I am sure not spending a bunch of money on new games that I can't loan out or trade in. In my little town we have two red boxes, that is where I grab most of the new releases to try them out before waiting a bit for them to start coming up at a game exchange retail. I wonder how the redbox effect will hurt MS.

That second video is funny, the people in my office thought I was crazy the way I was laughing...

Is MS trying to put themselves out of buisness?!

Geeve

All this FUD that spews on the internet officially makes me declare that the internet does not like logic...

Microsoft is only imposing certain DRM rights, which I think aren't needed really. The ONLY DRM right that is the controversy is if game developers decide to imposed DRM management to prevent disk swapping between consoles. That probably won't really happen in masse. But Microsoft really should clear up some DRM on the Xbox because again, the internet has no logic and can't figure things out like this. Not only that, it does complicate things.

Now this talk that the PS4 will outsell the new Xbox...doubt it there bubs. First off, more game content is available on the Xbox. The Xbox is most widely used console, whether it be the 360 or later the One. It has more features, and with the internet going, the power of three consoles versus a simple PS4. Content is what sells, not the console itself. You buy the console for the content. If there is more desirable, and more content in general for the Xbox, that is what will make it sell.

Also, if Microsoft doesn't let up on their DRMing, I do see a LOT of mod youtube videos on how to offline your Xbox One...

I'm happy to see Sony coming hard with the ps4. $100 to many is going to be the deal breaker.

Specs overall look better on the ps4, faster ram, better video card. Just the fear of DRM will sway some people. Lots will boil down to the used game market and what really happens. And major props to Sony for making the console region free. And no internet check in required..Just out off principal I'm all for that.

I'm currently an owner of both a ps3 and a 360. I play all my multiplayer games on the 360, I play most single player games on the 360. I use the ps3 for blu Ray, for Netflix and for home streaming. I like the simplified ps3 menu much better. Without a doubt, I love the 360 controller better.

Yes.

I already have said in that exact post you're quoting me that I don't really like the DRM management on certain things with the Xbox One that is imposed by Microsoft.

The thing you're quoting me about is the controversy of DRM rights on game disks from third party publishers IF they choose to do such, which I doubt.

Ahhh.... It stops being a dealbreaker to me.

The Xbox One includes a better gaming platform, a SUPERIOR Kinect sensor than the first gen included which will actually enabled game developers to utilize that than before when it wasn't included, and Windows Azure cloud computing.

In a handful of years down the road when current console graphics are being somewhat limited, the question will again rise of will there be new console hardware? This whole debacle again. But that will be limited to Playstations, because the Xbox One is future proofed for a few generations with the Azure cloud service and providing the potential of THREE Xbox Ones in terms of graphical computing. Where the PS 4 on paper sounds like a better gaming rig, that will only last for so long whereas the One has cloud offloading to make the console last a good genuine eight years at least without being a tired system.

The Kinect sensor is what makes the deal better, because the Xbox also has TV capabilities of which will be perfect to use voice commands for to switch from TV to a game on the fly. Since it is now included in ALL systems, game developers have a better incentive to use it than they did before where it was just an addon accessory. So things like sports games can become MUCH more interactive and FPS games can become more interactive as well through hand gesturing as well as speech features.

And since obviously it has been known that more hours have been logged for the first time ever with consoles outside of gaming (video playback), it makes perfect sense to adapt the console for such. The Xbox One does this MUCH better. It's a multi-entertainment system, not just a simple console. It's almost like a HTPC.

Yet to be proven, I've not seen any games.

Yeah ,we just added the Kinect sensor to our 360 a few months ago so that the kids could play Just Dance 4. Personally, I don't use the Kinect system at all. Could easily go without it.

I'm going to remain skeptical on this. First, the 360 and the PS3 are both pushing 8 years old now. Surprisingly, gaming is still fine on both. I'm playing Call of Duty Black Op2 and Grid 2 on the 360 and it's just fine. I don't yet see the bandwidth and infrastructure to take consoles and make them dumb terminals having the games processed in the cloud and simply screenshots and inputs happening at the house. Lag is bad enough with the processing going on locally.

The Kinect sensor is what makes the deal better, because the Xbox also has TV capabilities of which will be perfect to use voice commands for to switch from TV to a game on the fly.
I don't find that I want to flip on the fly. And I have a nice logitech harmony remote which makes it drop dead simple as it is and it controls my console, my home theater system, etc.

Have you not watched the Xbox One reveal event? I saw it a couple weeks ago and the whole half the time was JUST about the gaming of the Xbox, specifically Call of Duty, Forza, and EA Sports. It was silly during the Call of Duty part how they were talking about the "beautiful" graphics on the 360 a game ago and the new one on the Xbox One. It's called PC gaming...

Anyways, that is also the gist of the new Xbox, it is of a gaming PC standard. I downloaded a game on my Windows Phone called Modern Combat that is honestly halfway between a console game and a handheld game graphics wise.

The cloud offload is for developers to use to REALLY maximize graphics capabilities. Honestly, the average console gamer isn't going to give a crap about it being a dumb terminal, they're using a console to game. This to me is like instant coffee versus freshly ground beans brewed at the appropriate temperature; which is why I don't own a console to begin with.

I think Microsoft said it needs at least 1.5 MB internet connection to cloud compute, so if you have that, good for your gaming experience. If you don't, well...shite.

Let me get this straight - You cannot install used games to an Xbox? I have a bunch of friends that use all manner of ways to load games into an Xbox - I just didn't know this was illicit!

Xboxes, loaded up with all of the most recent games - Where I live are a commodity, highly sought after. These guys stick huge hard drives into them and load up all the games directly to the Machine. I know a couple of guys that set these up.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.

I'm in Month Two of my Azure 90-day Trial - I used it to create a Blog site. I didn't know this was going to be MS's new Cloud service. I'm using WebMatrix, it gives me all kinds of Templates to make a Site out of. I didn't know there were gong to be more uses for it, is this going to be a Paid Service?

Anyway it sounds like you know all about this stuff, I didn't know there were more uses for an Xbox that just a Gaming Console. It makes me interested in getting one.

I really don't care about the price or legacy game support, as i'm not a gamer. This will be my first console purchase. I like the integration with ATT Uverse and Windows 8 and eventually WP8 for games since i'm a 920 user.

$100 more is not an object as it comes with Kinect 2.0. The integration with everything MS is an easy choice for me.

Have you not watched the Xbox One reveal event? I saw it a couple weeks ago and the whole half the time was JUST about the gaming of the Xbox, specifically Call of Duty, Forza, and EA Sports.
Yes, I watched the event live when it aired. A couple of friends did as well at work. At the time we were like, what about the games, what about the games, what about the games. That whole press conference was all about the look of the device, the Kinect commands and the fact that you could watch TV.

EA came out and talked about 6 minutes about their sports series and their new Ignite game engine system. They mentioned Forza 5...but it got all of 1:30 and was nothing more than a game trailer. It wasn't any actual gameplay. And we got about 5 minutes of Call of Duty Ghosts...but it was really more about what Activision did and how they added a dog. And the gameplay footage at the end...yep just another trailer..not actual game play at all on the console. It's going to be the same in the PS4 too. They spent about 15 minutes out of 60 minutes talking about games. It's a game console, first and foremost.
