tim cook should just boldly state, "We'll bash on Windows 8 and even Windows Phone, but we'll gladly steal, copy, IBS, molest, and make horrendous the modern design language called metro."
Wow. Just wow.
To describe ios 7 is nothing more than simply stating, it is of offense to my eyes.
But to extrapolate, ew. It's literally like if apple took two blobs of play dough, one being android 4, one being Windows Phone, and just mushed them together along with the old crap of ios and called it revolutionary. Genius! Strange translucent UI pieces with obvious iconography that can ONLY be from Windows Phone. This is not "fresh" nor "light," it is validation of the metro modern design form of the Microsoft Modernists. It is a sign that for one, apple is copying from a major competitor. Two, they are not original anymore AT ALL. Three, they can't design good software worth SHITE. To have a company that believes that they and they only build the best of what they build to just radically alter the software (as well as hardware) like in the face of growing and fierce competition can only mean what they have simply isn't the best.
The texting app screenshot looks almost spot on to Windows Phone if the background color was set to white and corners were rounded.
Newer iconography is EXACTLY what is seen only from Windows Phone.
Older flattened iconography look more along the lines of Office 2013, even Windows 8 but with more weird color gradients on all of them. That safari icon looks like a damn thermostat.
Multitasking "card feature" is EXACTLY like on Windows Phone 8, of which will be more improved in Windows Phone 8.1.
The awkward looking glass? translucency reminds me of android 4, but again is more skeumorphic. It looks like something you would see in videos or photos that are blurred to mask a face or something otherwise obscene. Makes perfect sense.
The home screen looks like it should be on a cheap colored plastic toy.
Fonts that are used that are thin and light, my GOD that is from Windows Phone.
Now let's start on mac os x 10.9 Mavericks (what the hell, it was all feline animal names now it's a popular surfing spot in California?), ummm, yeah. Windows 8 thievery I see first off with the Calendar app. Going from leather stitching to simple white background UI with colored appointments, sounds freaking familiar.
"Oh, we're not going to combine a toaster and a refrigerator together like Windows 8, but we'll gladly take ios and morph it into mac os." Wow, another 10.x release, another dose of ios, the ONLY platform from apple that makes it even remotely relevant.
And yet, ALL of those, from mac os to ios, are PURELY AESTHETIC. There isn't anything ground breaking in either ios or mac os, well ios has actual better multitasking/switching than ios 6, maybe a simpler way to get to simple settings. Other than that, it's just all a Windows Phone/android knockoff. If they did this three years ago, THEY would be the ones getting praise for doing something modern and progressing UI design, progressing ios in general. Instead, they are too late in a time where everything Microsoft is currently prevalent in tech media, where Microsoft design is currently at the forefront everywhere (you'll even seen google copying this later as even now). Something like DESIGN that is traditionally apple territory has been turned over to be grasped by Microsoft.
apple is taking a HUGE risk here with ios. It has been found out internally that the design is polarizing. Another similarity between ios and everything modern Microsoft designed, it is polarizing. apple is currently advertising things of the iphone like "it's the most used device to listen to music," or "we take pride in what we do." They're trying to justify why they are the best, in the face of the consumer who is going to android or Windows Phone.
Or maybe it should be taken as, "The best Windows Phone ever."
