Maybe it so you can put Ubuntu on as well. It both free and gratis. Then you have a complete pc.

I don't know if Lenovo have enabled that yet - but they may.

I thought Lenovo were every 8 fanboys dream oem - or is that only when they are selling 8?

Why would ANYONE need to be installing different platforms, on a PHONE, to begin with? What, to say you can run three variants of android on it? There is no logical need for that. And even then, if Ubuntu were installed on such a device, what are you going to do with it then? Install Windows 8 in a VM just to run the basics? Geez...

And then, why would Lenovo be a Microsoft fanboy's dream? I honestly could care a flying pack of cigarettes less about what they do with android. I am an ASUS fan, but I can't care a flying pack of carnival rats about what they do with android phablets, only when they start putting android on a PC that runs 2/3 Windows 8, and when it would REALLY shine, they put android on the tablet third. That is stupid. If it doesn't pertain to Microsoft, it just doesn't matter. It's the same as if it were reverse and this were android OEMs and the question being asked if this OEM is only favorable when they make a few Windows devices over android.

Also, I should mention, the FACT that an article about ios 7 being posted in a Windows 8 NEWS forum says a lot. More like, "This is basically something that Microsoft started before apple, and therefore the world will follow apple and Microsoft will command." Interesting.

I asked you a very similar question a while back and you brought up the topic again in this thread. Why would anyone need a 41Megapixel camera in a damn cell phone. Are you going to use it to print out a 800x1000 image to replace the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?

Of course not - are you out of your mind?

Vast numbers of people have no need/want for windows at all on their consumer devices. Another crucial point you seem incapable of grasping.

Same reason people want a fast car. What is the point - the speed limit here is 70mph.

I recall seeing one of the newspapers will be using shots from reporters iphones - no photographers needed. This would be useful for that perhaps.

That's what it always boils down to for me. We aren't going to have multiple OS's and different types of devices and have 100% unique designs. It just doesn't work that way. It's like home theater receivers, we have lots of different makes and models. But they all do the same thing, they play back Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD. All have a volume up and down. All have an on-screen display. At the end of the day, it comes down to the # of inputs, ease of use, cost, asthetics, brand loyalty, etc. I recently upgraded my Harman Kardon with a new Marantz unit. What really sold me was the very simplistic look. The sound quality is awesome and the ability to listen to Pandora and support Apple AirPlay are both very nice add-ons.http://m.marantz.asia/assets/images/...007_n_b_34.jpg

Taking great pictures is an artistic eye thing, you either have it or you don't. Next, a great lens makes all of the difference to a person with a trained eye. Having zillions of megapixels just doesn't do much of anything unless you are going to make a larger than life wall mural of your picture. And practically nobody is going to do this.

I have worked with hundreds of photographers on hundreds of advertising campaigns. I know how they work from an artistic point of view - I don't know any of the technical stuff.

I have no idea if the papers would need something that has such good res in low light - maybe they do.

There is also the usual thing of why bother keep improving any device - just because you can , I suppose.

What is the point of having an amplifier at home that can push out several hundred watts? People like to buy them.

From an article off-linked from that page-

Pundits also expect iOS 7 to lose most if not all of its "skeuomorphism," a label for design that, in software, adds elements that make a program resemble a physical object. Famous examples in iOS and OS X include Calendar, which looks like a paper desk calendar, iBooks and its wood-grained shelves, and Notes, which mimics a lined notepad.
Usability, not 'flat' design, key to Monday's iOS refresh - Computerworld

So, well then, THAT guy can go work for Windows 8, he is basically saying that Although Apple hates Windows "OS" 8, he'll STEAL it's BLAND, STARK LOOK. These so called "skeuomorphisms" are what distinguishes those apps in relation to Stark MS apps with similar function.

Why should I not like Apples "Notes" in preference to Microsoft's "Notepad"? Who is this "Ives" CREEP to dictate that we Apple users will have to agree with his thefts of the most DERIDED aspects of Microsoft OS8?

Basically, it are those "skeuomorphisms" that Apple Users LIKE. Screw that guy, kick him back to Microsoft.
