whatever Microsoft is doing is being slowly adopted
You say that as if people are choosing to do so. It is inevitable. For those who need to replace their pc/laptop, there is only windows ( except for the very few who can afford a Mac ).

Even Ed Bott says it is just those who have to replace that are getting 8.

You can come up with a whole bunch of reasons/excuses as to why people are not buying it unless they have to.

However, it is wildly inaccurate to imply people are willingly choosing/adopting it in any kind of numbers.

Still don't know a single person with a windows phone or willing to use w8. Yeah, it's a runaway smash hit.

Hmm I'm willing to use Windows 8 (I am), and I know plenty of people who chose Windows Phone over Android/iPhone and are happy with it

I consider myself to be of reasonable intelligence, but I cannot for the life of me figure out why some seem so hellbent on promoting 8 & 8.1 so intensely.

    What! They've taken Vista out?
To be honest: I still have that running on a laptop.

    And...

In this case, upgrading to Win8 doesn't even count.

I don't know why it is.

A shrink would have a field day on this forum.

    Neither do I.

I thought that may just be the circles I move in. Perhaps it is more widespread. If so, there is hope for humanity after all.

And I know several people that do. Is that a runaway smash hit?

I'm not surprised that Windows 8 is overtaking VISTA. When Ihad Vista, the longer I used it the more I disliked it. With 8 the more I useit, the better I like it. I think that Vista was just a poor OS. I believe thatas people use 8 they will start to like it. Win 8.1 will certainly help.
