    Windows 8.1 Full Features List

As you have probably heard by now, Microsoft has decided to confirm this week that it's working on a new operating system called Windows 8.1, while also revealing lots of details about it.

The purpose of this article is pretty simple: to present all the changes that Microsoft plans to bring with its next Windows release, along with a few details to help you figure out the purpose of each of them.

    Hi there
You forgot to mention TWO of the most important (that what comes of using Softpedia for your source rather than more informed sites).

    1) Metro apps can be used on any monitor in a multi monitor setup TOGETHER with desktop application (and 4 metro apps will be allowed -- re-sizeable too).

    2) Install classic desktop apps will create a SINGLE "grouped" tile where the user can then re-arrange at will. Currently a large windows install (such as Visual Studio - the full version) generates tiles all over the place for every single .exe file.

There are other improvements as well - but these two I think will interest a lot of users. Boot to desktop of course has been confirmed anyway for a long time now.

    Cheers

So it's definite then. Start button but no start menu.

Question is will the start button bork 3rd party apps such as StartIsBack, etc. If this happens I'll just stick with W8 Pro OEM as is with StartIsBack, as I have no use whatsoever for Modern Start Menu ... which makes the version 8.1 Start button less than useless ... it becomes a hindrance!

Well if the Start Button is just a short cut to the Start Menu then that doesn't clarify as a Start Button at all. Why don't they just put the short cut on the desktop. That seems kind a worthless to me. Guess I'll keep my 3rd party app and hope they find a way to get around MS short cut.

There they go again thinking they know what the customer wants. What ever happen to the slogan "Customer is King"?

When you get to be a monopoly you forget about that.

Yeah, cause people don't have choices, they just refuse to make those choices,,
oh that's right, those other choices suck worse.

    MS is not a monopoly.

It was about time. Looks like our cnstant complainings flooding the forums has been fruitfull.
They are able to listen, but it takes time.
This is the most important news because it shows that MS is still able to adapt to users' needs.
The fake start button, however is a bad joke. The Modern Start screen looks more and more like a second desktop. basicaly, we get an OS with two desktops. That's ridiculous, but ok. At some point we better stop trying to search a rationale behind their design.

M$ thinks they have a monopoly but they better get back in touch with the user.

The new PC may be a laptop running Android. Far-fetched? Not if HP is doing it.
