Sinofsky thinks it will actually take years before anyone will know if Microsoft really has a dog on its hands

Before anyone will know. . . or before Microsoft will know?

Sinofsky is terrible at presentation. Everyone should know about his surface hickup during his keynote presentation of the device. Yes, it's every presenter's nightmare to have a device go wrong on stage, but what matters more is how they deal with it. Sinofsky ran across the stage to use his backup.

There was a moment during Steve Jobs' presentation of the ipad where the ipad didn't respond and froze. I watched the video several times before I caught that moment. You know how Steve Jobs dealt with it? He pretended like he didn't do anything, turned to the audience, and said "by the way, blah blah..." and continued on as if he had forgotten to say something to the audience. Then he picked up the ipad again to demo. I'm willing to bet the second time he picked it up it was the backup. Very hard to catch that moment. I don't think anyone in the audience noticed it. That's how you're suppose to deal with something freezing on stage.

Microsoft isn't though. The Surface RT is now being offered with a free keyboard and the Surface Pro with a free version of office 2013.

I think MS should go after Mr. Sinofsky's severance and golden parachute packages. The reason why is he damaged the company reputation, and financial well being. The obnoxious comments from him recently show proof of massive incompetence, and neglect of duties.

That is true about how to demo something.

But then again, it seems when someone from Microsoft demos a new product, something WITHOUT fail goes wrong in one way or shape or form. They're getting better though.

Either they're drumming up sales, clearing out old stock before a new announcement (most likely this since they're probably announcing new things this summer, they usually have a big sale of older stock when new products arrive like Office or Windows), or doing the right thing by including it to begin with. Seriously, it was figured that the touch cover has 16 dollars worth of hardware and is sold at 100+ dollars even the tagline for the Surface tablet is "Click in to do more" as well as commercials showing off the clickiness of that.

The surface appears to be are nice hardware but I'm thinking a tough sell for what they want for them. They are too good for what they are, a tablet. IMHO that average Joe doesn't need that much power for media consumption etc. If you need something that powerful your going to be tempted to buy a full sized laptop or Ultrabook for that kind of dough. Offering something extra, that doesn't really cost them all that much is a good deal for Microsoft. Office isn't cheap and neither is that keyboard if you have to buy them separately as an extra item. It certainly won't hurt sales any.
