Google Search Brings Siri-Style Voice Commands to Desktop

This is great! I just installed an Addon called "GooGiri" on my iPhone, it does the same thing, puts google searches right into Siri. If I ever get a desktop with touch and Voice control, I could try this.

Hi there XweAponx
I'd remove the link to Hiren's CD in your sig as it contains some unlicensed proprietary and pirated software. (Links to Pirated material could get site owners in trouble),

Cheers

Although Desktop voice search is not something I would use, I saw a demo of Google Glass last week and was pretty impressed with the voice recognition. Skip to just over 1 minute in the below video to see voice recognition in action:

Looking through Google Glass: Real Life Example - YouTube

Hi there
just imagine the hideousness of the voice application in a crowded open plan office !!! or the Google (or should it be Goofy) glass thingy with people screaming out conflicting commands all over the place. Offices are noisy enough places these days and judging by how little respect most mobile phone users have for their neighbours - these whole applications would add yet another new level of torture in the modern office place. Thank goodness I'm out on the road a lot !!!.

Seems also more and more of those excruciating telephone call centres are going in also for voice recognition -- just when you thought the whole call centre experience couldn't get any worse they've found yet another thing to add to the torture of using these.

If any sort of Virtual reality or other device takes people's attention away from the road then that's going to be a problem too --- !!! It's bad enough seeing people using mobile phones in their cars -- even voice activated non hand held ones are MEGA DANGEROUS in cars -- worse than being 3 (yes THREE) times over the drink limit (although here in ISL. I'm glad to say you are allowed 0% ZERO - NOT A DROP and this is rigorously enforced where possible).

Cheers
jimbo

Sorry -- apologize -- I think it's some of the ones out in the wild with "Extra features added" that are the "rogue" versions.

No - The one that's listed there, is the original. The way to know if a Hiren's CD has been altered is by it's file size: It is, after all, "Hiren's Boot CD" not "Hiren's Boot DVD 9" or "Hiren's Boot 300GB Hard Drive" heh. - I have seen images with all kinds of extra stuff added. Now I know, they ar not the original versions. I've always modified the ones I use, but I never distribute those, they are private tools. Like a hammer with a gunsight embedded in it, cos ya never know when you are gonna need it, and sometimes even something as ridiculous as a hammer with a gunsight may be needed.

Anyway, I was kind of worried, I've been using HBCD since it magically appeared years ago, and I never considered once that it had any illegitimate aspects.
