Windows Keeps Getting Better

Windows 8 was built for a world that blends our work and our personal lives, a world where we expect high quality touch experiences everywhere, and a world that is always on the go and always connected. Windows 8 redefines our market from PCs to mobile computing.

We are pleased with the progress we’ve seen with Windows 8 so far.

A Guy

Hi there
Your review must be coming from an "Alternate Universe" -- certainly it's not coming from THIS one.

I've got one of the latest leaked builds- and if you install say any decent large suite such as Adobe CS6 (the full suite) or Visual Studio 2012 the install process STILL creates a snivelling tile for every wretched .EXE and puts it not with the application that it belongs to but in alphabetical name order so it could be ANYWHERE on the wretched start screen.

Ms developers -- don't you EVER get to install some popular applications on your systems to see what they look like before letting your product out of the door.

I'd personally get Ms to LOCK some developers in the same room with some USERS, confiscate all MOBILE PHONES, have only ONE machine with Internet access so no Facebook etc and NOT LET ANYBODY LEAVE until the problems were sorted out satisfactorily or at least until a reasonable compromise was reached. I'd supply portable toilets etc so people would not be able to leave until the job was done. Food and Water only would be supplied via a small letterbox slit in the door. Rather like the old Conclave system used when electing a Pope.

Anyway the start process is still WRETCHED in this version of Windows (Windows 8.1 -).

From what I can see Ms are STILL making a Pig's ear of their "Changes".

Cheers
jimbo

@jimbo, I love the fact that you have a photo of an Austin Allegro on that screenshot.

It seems quite appropriate; it had a radical user interface too - a square(ish) steering wheel. ;)

I think British Leyland's attitude regarding the squarish steering wheel was that...
it is the wave of the future, the consumer will "get used to it". :roflmao:

...and where is British Leyland today?

Did someone say Alternate Universe? Don't let Walter Bishop hear you, he'll build a doorway into it!

Today at the JP Morgan Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in Boston, Tami Reller shared with the audience that the update previously referred to as “Windows Blue” will be called Windows 8.1and will be a free update to Windows 8 for consumers through the Windows Store.

JUST Like OSX 10.1, heh? I hope I can walk down to Worst Buy and pick up my free copy, I'll set it next to my OSX 10.1 which I have in it's original sleeve!

Hi there
It was on the BBC's site -- some "terrorists" had just been jailed or something -- thank goodness some of these people know NOTHING about Cars - so they couldn't do their "quick getaway" -- mind you they wouldn't have needed to create a car bomb - those cars by all account were quite susceptible of blowing up by themselves. !!

Cheers

I think the BBC had some story about 80s cars earlier in the week so I wonder if it was for that.

Note to Forum members living in countries or decades where the Austin Allegro has not made an appearance: it was not the British motor industry's finest product...

PS Apologies for sending the thread hopelessly off-topic.
