I am not familiar with this topic. So one question is this windows blue a usual system update or is it an OS which is offered by MS to windows 8 users? Is it some sort of Service pack?

You know it is funny since Microsoft stated back in October or November of 2012 that Blue would probably be a free upgrade. Well now it is confirmed.

Now this is a "Good Thing."

Both. Microsoft is no longer doing Service Packs they will be doing upgrade similar in the style of Apple's OS X.

It would appear that it will be October (around the end) before it is released (final). The RTM should be in August'

(This is according to the latest out of Microsoft).

It says "...the final version of Windows Blue (both the Windows 8 and the RT flavors) will be made available to customers through the Windows Store once they are available."

Why through Windows Store and not via Windows Update as an optional update? And if it's not available through Windows Update, I assume there will be a way to direct download it?

Maybe because it will cost non Windows 8 customers $$.$$.

It was stated in the article:

Reller emphasized that Microsoft's strategy in using the Windows Store to deliver Blue is focused around giving users choice about when they deploy the coming update.

"Windows 8.1 will be a packaged set of updates which customers can say when they are ready (to deploy)," she said.
A lot of people have Auto Update turned on, so by using the Store the user has controll on when to install.
