Microsoft's counter-attack against Windows 8 coverage.....

[h=1]Microsoft's counter-attack against Windows 8 coverage makes it 'look weak'[/h]
Microsoft counter-attacked Friday, calling some media coverage of its plans to update Windows 8 sensationalist and an effort to drive website page views. One analyst dubbed the missive by Frank Shaw, Microsoft's head of communications, as defensive. "It makes Microsoft look weak," said Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy. "Not everyone is going to be fair, but that's life."

That is very interesting.

Frank Shaw must have known it would make MS look as if they were on the back foot. Add in the scroogled attacks and complaining about losing the Boston contract to Google - some might say they look desperate.

He must have felt it worth the risk.

Maybe it will be. Perhaps the ripple will go round not to expect blue to be the great saviour.

"They're on the defensive here," said Moorhead. "I don't think there is anyone who read that memo that thought any differently. You only write a response like this when your back is against the wall to a certain extent.

"I don't think this had to be written," Moorhead said.

Yep, I agree with Pat. I was surprised Frank Shaw had posted that.

The reaction is important news.

Microsoft doesn't want people to get their expectations raised, and then have another cycle of maligning Windows 8."

They certainly don't want another flop. The ball is in their court.

Hi there
Reminds me of a Dutch / Belgian Flemish TV program "Man bijt Hond" (Translation : Man Bites Dog) and the TV program was even worse than the title suggests. Ms should forget about any publicity until they've fixed their base product.

You'd have an easier job of selling a lump of burning coal in the fires of Hell.

Cheers
