'Computer' renamed to 'This PC' in latest Windows 8.1 buil

According to a new screenshot of an unspecified development build of Windows 8.1, Microsoft has made a minor change and renamed 'Computer' to 'This PC', while also removing the Libraries feature in favor of top level folders that sit inside 'This PC'. These folders appear to be the same as My Documents, My Music, My Videos, (etc.) just with the 'My' prefix removed and a repositioning into an easier to access location.

    Hi there
Not sure if this "Feature" is even worth bothering about.

Seems a bit of "back to the Future" . Scr shot enc. Windows 98 and Windows 3.11 - even the name change of Windows explorer back to File Explorer is almost the same as it was back in Windows 3.11 when it was called File Manager. !!

On Windows 98 you could change the name My computer to anything you liked and the Network icon Network Neighbourhood seems more descriptive than the current one.

I hope Ms concentrates on PROPER changes that USERS WANT such as sorting out the stupid UI interface when you run mainly or exclusively "Classical Windows desktop" applications.

    Cheers

If it works the same as Libraries using symbolic links then that's fine with me.

You can remove libraries from sidebar with registry hack.

I think I read that the new This PC setup in 8.1 is more like the Longhorn project where Libraries were originally conceived of. In Longhorn, those Libraries were in Computer, like 8.1.

So it is Windows Longhorn reborn! Not so much though...

But it is really redundant to have the Libraries in This PC and Libraries on the sidebar.

You can still change Computer to whatever you want...

And File Explorer and File Manager are only the same because of one word.

A look at the source screen shot, there is no Libraries in the side bar. It looks like all the Libraries will be in This PC.
