No iTunes for Windows 8 devices anytime soon

What do they mean, as a Tile App, or as my regular iTunes app? iTunes is one of those programs that absolutely needs to be run from the Desktop. Ah, I see, they mean as a Tile App - MS wants it cos Zune Sux.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
This could get confusing. Shall we call them

programs v apps.

Or apps v Tile apps.

Not surprised. Why on earth would Tim want to give itunes app to MS. They might make a bit on the tunes - but it is better to keep the great software for their own product offering.

Unless MS has something he wants and they do a trade.

It should have been worded such: "No iTunes MS Store App In The For See-able Future." . . .

I installed iTunes on my windows 8 laptop without any issues. Really don't care if there is a metro/Modern UI app iTunes app. It would be stripped of any real features if it ever did make it there as pretty much all Metro/Modern UI apps are.

Agreed, iTunes as is runs great on my Windows laptop as well.

BTW - Microsoft should be worrying about getting their app store together before talking smack.

And as a side note: Didn't Microsoft try to compete with Apple with Zune... and got slapped silly?

Anyone with an Apple device, that's who needs iTunes. Even though I have other ways to get my music into my device, and I even have ways to get APPS into my device, I still use it for the stuff in my Apple account.

itunes sucks, it sucks so hard that I want to go take a poop on apple's headquarters building and I don't even use it even remotely regularly. itunes 11 is nothing more than a VERY poor Zune client ripoff mixed with itunes from the ipad. I could care less if apple did make an itunes app, it still wouldn't function correctly regardless.

But there is really no need for them to do so, the Desktop is on the Windows 8 as always for that "legacy" software.

The wording wasn't Microsoft pinning for itunes development in WinRT form, but really just laying down the Welcome mat for apple. They're not knocking at the door, probably because they know if the itunes client ran on Windows 8 tablet PCs, it would look awkward for an ipad mini or giant ipod touch to be connected to a tablet PC. Oh wait....

I'm sure they said no because there's no full Office for IOS yet. Both camps want each others app.

I personally think MS shouldn't release for IOS. They should continue to improve their Music app and let IOS dwindle down to the toy it is.

Oh wait... I can already use itunes on my Surface desktop. :roflmao:

Unfortunately you need iTunes to manage an iPod for example. So therefore iTunes is a must have on my computer. Although I always say that fruit needs to be put into the fruitbasket rather then your computer, I have no complaints about iTunes. It does for me what it needs to do.

And that there is not an iTunes app coming won't mind me. I wouldn't use it anyway. I prefer the desktop version.
