Then when used like this why isn't it exactly like a PC. How many people actually have a laptop on their laps at work anyway.

I think the stupid Ms supplied extra keyboard that you could get for the device deserves a one way trip to the garbage can -- that IS a POS. Nothing to stop you using a decent proper wireless keyboard and mouse with the device when docked.

For the rest the Ms surface pro looks like a nice piece of kit albeit a bit expensive -- however now the economy seems to be gradually inching (or should I say micro milli-metering) its way out of recession some people might buy these as " trendy nice boys toys" - after all expensive Apple products never stopped people who liked that type of kit from buying incredibly expenisve gear.

A lot of people like to type on the train.

And everytime I look at the surface, I can't help but think of the following cheap chinese usb keyboard with case for tablets.

Tablet holder - Leather case & USB Mini keyboard for 8 Tablet PC

I just can't shake that off. I'd rather have a real hybrid that turns into a tablet or laptop whenever I need it to. Something like the asus transformer form factor. In fact, I currently use the hp envy x2 as my main computing device. Waiting for such a form factor with an i-series processor.

I've had my SP 128 since early March. I have the type cover AND I have used it on my lap. I'm a designer and I use CAD on it at home with a dual monitor. I don't use it heavily for CAD but it's fine for touchups at home. I use excel and word every day with no problems at all. I rarely sit with it in my lap and type on the type cover but I have and it works ok.

My pictures and personal stuff is on the SD card and I use a thumb drive for more storage. I'm rarely far from an outlet so the battery life is ok for me. Obviously, everyone would like more but it works for me.

When typing and doing actual work I'm at my desk so typing on my lap wouldn't matter anyway. When I want to kick back in the recliner and just surf the net and catch up with Twitter, Facebbook, etc., I either remove the cover or fold it over and use it as a tablet. I may be that individual that it's a perfect fit.

I recently got a pen loop with an adhesive back that works fine for pen storage. Most of the general complaints for me have been resolved.

    I'm lovin' my SP 128.

If you haven't seen it in the other thread I posted in on launch day....

I don't understand the difficulty understanding the use I get out of mine. It works fine as my main pc at home and when I go to work it goes with me too.

All valid points there Jimbo. For some people a tablet with that much power is a must have. The thing is though for me, the Surface Pro doesn't fit my needs or wants. I wanted a big screen that would be easy on my eyes and maybe game on ocasionally. I also wanted something I could use in my lap with a real keyboard. Most of the time It's only going to go as far as my patio so size or weight isn't that big a deal for me. That's why I went big and bought an ASUS K75DE. I already have a desktop with dual monitors so I have no interest in a second device that I would dock to a bigger screen. The things that I would do on a tablet with a 7" or 10" screen wouldn't require that much power, so what I would buy if I were to buy a tablet would be a lot cheaper than the Surface Pro. I had contemplated buying a hybrid for a while, something with a detachable clamshell keyboard. If I was still working and did a lot of traveling I likely would have went that route. In the end I wanted something with a full Windows OS on it and went for a laptop. Not having a touch screen isn't a big deal to me.
