As far as I could research on the internet the "Add new features to Windows" has been updated and the new search panel is fully functional and is default.

Been playing around for a few days now and have been able to make it crash three times with one crash forcing me to have to reinstall (using in a VM). The hard crash was because of my attempt to use AGTweaker 1.2 (didn't like it at all). That has been the only real problem thus far. Haven't attempted the different Start Button apps will see later this evening.

Any major changes?

I'm enjoying build 9369 (x64) too much right now, maybe wait till they leak higher (x64) build before I format and re-install again.

From the looks hopefully Windows 8.1 RTM will have ReFS support out of the box and ability to format to ReFS from fresh install...

So is this supposed to be just a Service Pack update, or a new version of Windows 8 altogether?

It's more than a service pack. Kernel version has changed, so it's a new OS.

All indications are it's suppose to be like a service pack to Windows 8 at least that's true with build 9369 since Windows 8 keys work for installation.

Done downloading, probably not going to install and just wait for build 9385 (x64) pre-beta if that gets leaked...

I meant new in the sense of " Get your wallets ready". I really dont feel like paying for improvements that should have been integrated in the first place. I pirated Windows in the past, but Vista is the first version I paid for, and hated it. I continued afterwards but ever since then have been leaning towards making sure my OS is legit. And I also am wondering whether this "Windows Blue" will still be Windows 8, or will it be the next version of Windows (i.e. separate)? Where is the line drawn between SP/update and an entirely new OS that is an improved version of 8? Just confused/wondering is all.

It's supposed to be a free upgrade. Despite how stupid some people think Microsoft is, I believe Microsoft is well aware that they can't make Blue a paid upgrade.

On thing is known: It's not a major release. All the rest is speculation !

I agree with you. It's too early to make people open their wallets again !

OK you guys have responded to me way faster than I could finish posting, I was still typing/editing my last post, and then I submitted it and saw 2 more! LMAO! Yeh I'd say you guys are right, they'd seem like foolish a**holes to try to charge for this. But many people are sheeples, they would probably fall in line and pay up. I do hope they introduce Aero Glass and the Start button as optional for ppl like me who still want it. They could just put an option in the Control Panel for enabling it, while leaving Metro/Modern as the default. I'm starting to like Metro more and more as it is but I still like the eye candy and Start button. And I disagree with their decision to make Windows Media Center a separate paid addon, it should be included for free, maybe this will change that. Although I do have several keys for WMC that I obtained earlier this year during their giveaway.

I care more about finalizing ReFS support on Windows 8.1 if it can be done, since from what I've read the new file system perfectly compliments SSD's (power failure reliability) and also has benefits for mechanical drives (less or almost no file fragmentation).

Those keys were supposed to be used until January, 31. Are you sure that they are still activatable?

Hi there
Thanks guys - downloading it now -- It's the X86 version. If it works like last time an X-64 edition should be available later.

At 15 Mb/s it shouldn't take long - zillions of seeders too.

(It's actually completed - while I was getting some tea before finishing the post -- Breakfast time here where the Dog has just bought me the Sunday papers). !! (Actually Yesterdays' - Saturdays - English papers !!).

seems legit - available from "The Usual places".

Note to Torrent users : where possible use Magnet links rather than torrent files directly -- torrent clients are reliable with these now and they don't leave audit trails.

Install this in a VM as well --that way no problems if the torrent contains "surprises" -- this one (at least from the torrent I'm using) passes all legit tests I can think of.

Installing as I write this - will post observations after I've had my Breakfast.

I notice though on the start screen the little button that was on the build 9369 version has gone.

These leaks remind me of the fun we had when Windows 7 was just being developed -- I'm not sure how many builds I had before the final RTM was released. !!

cheers
jimbo
