Microsoft Office likely to get the Metro treatment

This week, Windows president Steven Sinofsky reiterated what we already knew: Windows 8 PCs and tablets running on ARM chips won’t be able to load applications originally built for Intel-based computers. While this is no surprise, Microsoft did also say that applications using the Windows 8 Metro interface will be easily ported to ARM platforms and that Microsoft Office will likely be given the Metro treatment.

That ought to be interesting. I have a hard time seeing full-blown Office capability in a touch environment. However ... we shall see.

Seem to remember they were going to link to Office 365.
Office 2010 would be hard to use, as will any keyboard based app.

I am not a believer in the Cloud, but if office is to be employed on tablets it would make sense that it would be primary designed to be use with Office 365. Apple has had some problems with Pages on the iPad. It would seem unless you have a Bluetooth keyboard thumb typing is just a bit two difficult to deal with when typing long documents (can you picture a college student attempting to type a sixty page thesis).
