Alright, I'm back to Windows 95 and all works good so I'm keeping this setup. No more worries with all those weird and fast releases.

The start button is "Sort of back" in the latest widely available leaked build 9369 but I don't really miss it at all -- I find working with custom toolbars, the desktop and quick launch bar just fine.

However the GOOD news (and this is probably what will appeal to a lot of W8 detractors) is the possibility of booting directly to the desktop which makes sense for desktop and non touch pc's.

Note this feature (Direct boot to Desktop) is NOT yet available in build 9369 - or at least I haven't found any configuration tricks to be able to do it although there might be some hidden registry content.

What the report misses saying though is WILL THEIR BE A MENU -- what will you get when you press the start button.

My guess would be a MENUIZED version of something like what you get now when you press the Windows + X button together with the shutdown command but we'll have to see.

(For those users who don't know what I'm saying here just go to the desktop and press Windows + X key). The new version would probably operate as a Classical menu with a tree structure rather than just the Top level commands.

For those who haven't seen it yet -- screenshot enc of the start button in build 9369 -- this button though is NOT on the desktop but on the Start screen.

Looking forward to see later builds if they get leaked soon.

Hey jumbo, that's the worst mouse drawing job I've ever seen. Don't quit your day job yet.

Silly question perhaps... but presumably you have paid for this domain and such, so what happens if they dont call it 8? what if they go back to stupid names, like i don't know, "Windows Fusion"?
