Windows 8.1 build hints at Metro-based file manager

Windows 8.1 could be more user-friendly than its predecessor, at least based on the features revealed in the latest build.

Popping up on file-sharing sites this week, Windows 8.1 Build 9369 includes a new Files app branded with the SkyDrive logo, according to The Verge. The app itself lets you navigate both your local files and those stored on SkyDrive.

Hi there
Sounds better at least -- hope that once you decide whether to open it in Full screen or not that it remembers the default until you change it again. I'd hate to have to answer the prompt every time I open the app.

At least Ms have started THINKING about people who don't always want or need everything to be in Full Screen,

Cheers

There are some available now but they are like version .04 (reduced functionality) or something like that.
They can copy, paste, select and do other things though. Some still require Win32.

As long as the new File Explorer app is a good Desktop equivalent, I'll be happy. It it's just like the SkyDrive app, I shall not be. I don't even really use the SkyDrive app over the actual internet site...

I'm kind of excited for ReFS, I believe Microsoft detailed that Storage Spaces is best used with ReFS formatted drives over NTFS. I shall be using Storage Spaces soon, and ReFS is a nice addition. :)

Yes, the ability to merge multiple different disks in a single pool is simply great, and ReFS makes it more secure.
