You are talking about the definition of what a PC is.
That's where there is a conflict. A Personal Computer is more than a production device.

By all means not to be condescending, but I think the forum editing works fine. One has to be careful with placement of the beginning [QUOTE] (numbers also if applicable) and ending [\QUOTE]. At least that's what I've found.

On the other hand, I'm not a member of 7F, so I wouldn't know if that editor is better.

Ed Bott has always shown a very balanced view of the Microsoft products. This article is an excellent summary of the Windows 8 problems and the challenges ahead.

Microsoft’s role as the kingpin of computing is long gone and some already consider it irrelevant or obsolete. Windows 8 and its ecosystem have all the ingredients to change that perception and make the next generation of computing devices very interesting. But even with flawless execution there’s no guarantee of success.

I think Ed Bott is my favourite ZDnet guy, he at least TRIES to find some good in the stuff he is ripping to shreds - He was merciless with Vista, hahaha. He is more gentle with Windows 8.

What IS it then? - I use it to maintain my finances, I use to to write my Blog articles, I use it to maintain my websites, I use it to compose and arrange my MUSIC. I use it even to fix other computers that are failing. Everything I do is on three machines and my iPhone and they are all interconnected - I do something on my computer and it goes to my phone, I change it on my phone and it gets saved on my computer - from 500 miles away. If MS releases an OS where I cannot have access to that productivity, then it is worthless. And up to now, the Productivity of the PC has always been on the Desktop.

It is a production device, but not just a production device. It is a media center. It is a communications tool. It is a calculation device. It is a library. It is a portal to the internet. It is a networking marvel. It is an entertainment center. It is a means to earn a living. It is a gaming machine. It is a television. It is a hobby....

A laptop/desktop is not the same as a small tablet/phone.

It is possible some may not need a laptop/desktop and can get by with a phone.

Just like some can get by with a bicycle and don't buy a car.

However, a car and a bicycle are not the same thing.

Tony, believe me. Compared to the sevenforums it is a pain. I could list at least 10 deficiencies here that do not occur there.

Technically speaking, tablets and phones are computers.

Try to edit a post here where you have 2 or 3 links in the post. It is a nightmare. I made it a habit now to answer only with very simple postings. Since I always have a lot of typos, I need to be able to easily and quickly correct my postings.
Sadly we use the newer vbulletin 4 here and we cant use the vb3 editor, we were hoping that there would be an editor update and fix in the next vbulletin version but they have left it out, until vbulletin pull their finger out there isn't much we can do.
