Win 8, (VM win7, XP, Vista)

Regardless of what the critics say Microsoft will be around for at least a couple more days. . . If you really want to see the power of Microsoft walk into just about any hospital in the world, go into just about any government office, and you will see the power of Microsoft. Even those who find Windows 8 to their dislike will still remain with some form of Microsoft Windows. Microsoft is embedded/entrenche way to deep in all of sociatial needs to come crashing down over night as it would appear some of it critics would believe or want.

If they don't like win 8 most go back to win 7, and yes a few have jumped the Microsoft ship other the years, albeit they come swimming back.

Well stated and needed, Lee.

It does seem that we have those on here that think Microsoft is some small slouch corporation that'll fold overnight. On the other hand we have some that seem to think it's a monopoly.

Microsoft is a huge corporation with 8 divisions:

Will MS crumble? Anything is possible, but I very highly doubt it.

Monopoly? The U.S. Federal court filed suite. MS satisfied everything them turkeys wanted. I never agreed with the accusations. I think that Gates and company never thought they'd be such a success. I always thought they were fair on pricing even though they were the biggest.

Reading the original article by A Guy to me back to 1983 when I started reading about the televisions. We were still watching a 19 inch television.
My wife won $1000 playing Kroger bingo. It took them forever to verify it and send us her winnings. When they did, we were off for a new TV set.
Only three requirements. 1.— Floor model 2.— Remote control 3.— Cable ready (no more adapter)

The salesman showed us where not only is that Zenith 27 inch TV cable ready; it has a knockout plate for the future when people start connecting computers and other things to their TV.

From that experience I agree with all those who say MS has sealed their fate. Not in a negative way though.
Making everybody taste Windows 8 will remain with them when they go to buy phones and tablets. It has to be better when your portable plays well with your desktop.
I've found Windows 8 to be much more fulfilling by reading and adapting what other people have experienced and shared. Many of them lead to the tutorial section and many of the tutorials by Brink.
Maybe a tab 'Tips & Tricks' would encourage some positive interaction and understanding of 8.

Well, I love my desktop so MS got to hang around for that. If MS is dead in 4 years, so is the PC hardware companies and all their profits.

Win 7 will be with us probably for the next 10 years just like XP. Win 8 would only be for home use with all it's fun and not so fun factors. Big corporations will not adapt win 8 to run their businesses just like what happened to Vista. It is not a very good tool for productivity.

Smart! Unfortunately it's not the case. PC versions of Windows™ cannot run tablets and Metro/ModernUI/RT cannot run PCs. It happens that W8 contains both Windows™ and Metro but they are still very far from developing a one fit all OS.
The problem with M$ softwares is bloat: Had they kept Windows™ small, simple and coded efficiently, they would have probably succeeded in the tablet area.
    Not really....

And no, Windows 8 is already a one size fits all OS to an extent, it takes user input to do that to fine tune it. Then again.....

This right here sounds GR8 in theory, but in practice completely falls through the toilet. It's surprising how in this day and age where there is a digital oracle of information literally at millions of people's finger tips, no one uses it for actual learning and information it seems.

"I had to google how to shutdown Windows 8, Windows 8 sucks!" Wow, you learned how to do something new in 8 that you didn't know before that helped you use the OS, and it sucks because it doesn't work like 7? OK.

Officially stated Windows 7 support ends 2020, XP support ends this year (after a significant extension). Apparently, when support ends, XP will keep working on users PCs etc. Do you know something the rest of us don't about Windows 7? Most people are assuming that it will be still functioning in 2023, at the very least.
