Windows 8, the Mind-Blowing Factor.

In a recent interview, Steven Sinofsky, president, Windows and Windows Live Division noted that there simply was no way of telling how Microsoft would be able to outdo Windows 7 with the forthcoming Windows 8. And yet, a Program Manager on the Windows team, working on Windows Update, published a blog post in which he enthusiastly promised that Windows 8 would end up being completely different than everything customers expected of a Windows release. While it offered no actual details on the next iteration of Windows, the PM managed to shed light on the enthusiasm that was undoubtedly fueling the people behind the Windows project, as Windows 7 was a smashing success, with over 60 million sold licenses since launch.

That does not mean that Win7 is a good operating system. It only means that the hype has worked. As far as design and user interface is concerned, Vista is far superior. Win7 was made for little old ladies and people that cannot get their butt off XP.
In fairness it should be said though, that there is progress in some areas - e.g. taskbar, libraries, performance and stability (for now at least).

+1 w h smith :p i mean whs but don't forget to mention the best app.... snipit..... that so brings simplicity for taking screen shots without the hassle of having to print screen and edit

I actually use FastStoneCapture and Jing. I like those because of the additional functions.

Snipping tool is ok - but it is very basic. Try to do something like this with it:
