who wants an old fashioned desktop
Your friend Paul Thurrott, for one.

You might as well ask, who wants an old fashioned Da Vinci painting.

Yes, nothing exciting there - unless you think that is all Blue will be.

In which case - it is fascinating - particularly as it is another step to keeping folk in the metro stuff.

The point of that is what do you think?

I want the Menu back. It's just puerile nonsense but hey.

Or maybe this one, it's probably best its got Start on it. It's even got network sharing and OneNote on it.

That's what was missing in Metro. More control and independence from the desktop !

Do you? That would be a shame - more interesting to see how this plays out if MS keep going.

Yes, I am sure everyone has realised by now what your posts are.

Well I hope people would rather listen to my puerile nonsense than someone hoping that the Chinese Government is somehow going to save the computing public.

Well, can't all the items that were in the menu be accessed through the file explorer?
Personally I find the file explorer easier to use than the start menu, I run multiple AutoCAD software and computer algebra software, which populates the start menu on windows 7.

With the Modern UI I like the fact that icons are bigger, but there is of course the downside of having to manually arrange them on the start screen, but hey, life is full of compromises and nobody alway gets what they want. :P
