People paid money for Windows 8 that forced the MPI upon them, which they don't use.

We can, of course, disect every negative report about Windows 8 and we will always find something that is flawed. Fact though is, from all the reports that float around on the web, that the vast majority of desktop users is unhappy with the touch UI on the desktop.

If MS does not react and correct the situation, there will be a big negative impact on their business and on the PC industry as a whole. It does not help if a few geeks like us can deal with the situation. The vast majority of the users are not that flexible and will look for other solutions. As long as Windows 7 is still around, that is relatively easy. But as time goes by, the situation would seriously erode if MS does not react properly and listens to it's customers. Working against the wishes of your customers has never worked.

They are not going to get it Ray.

    Some people like it.

A few of them are not able to grasp a very large number do not like it, and that it is having a bad effect on sales.

Nothing will make any difference to those few.

It is all somebody else's fault.

    Modern

From Middle French moderne, from Late Latin modernus; from Latin modo ("just now"), originally ablative of modus ("measure"); hence, by measure, "just now".

    Adjective

    Modern

    1. Pertaining to the current time and style.

    - Our online interactive game is a modern approach to teaching about gum disease.

-Although it was built in the 1600s, the building still has a very modern look.

    Synonyms:

    contemporary
It's called the Modern interface to perform modern navigation for modern people to use on their modern devices in a modern way.

Have you noticed not everyone on here is a modern thinker, they're trapped in the Windows 3.1 past just like the author. I liked 3.11 better.

I get it! You don't like it! ok.
...a very large number do not like it...
yes... indeed, but I think a very large number really do not know what they are doing. If someone asks, "where's the control panel", "how do I turn off my computer" ... how can one respond... It's too complicated?

Moving your pointing device up a narrow 2 or 3 inch square and then, oops, I missed, now I have to start at the orb again and go find that darn nest! Or, which of the 30 icons on my desktop do I click? How about 75 cascaded rows on a taskbar tool bar menu! Very neat and useful but you had better not misdirect your pointer.

It's ok to not like it, even hate it, ... whatever floats your boat.
Microsoft will adapt to customers. They are a survivor.

But before Windows 3.1 there was DOS Shell, which was a full-screen task-switching environment that didn't multi-task properly. Just like Metro, in fact.

I was going to go back to Windows 7 but they force you to use the SMI and I don't like being forced to do anything.

Yeah but you don't have to stay in Metro if you don't want, you can just go to the desktop like I do. Using the Winkey to go back and forth is really quick.

This is how confusing it seems to be: Clearing Up The Confusion: It’s “The New Windows 8 UI” – Not “Metro UI” | TechCrunch. All those here who purport to know everything about Windows 8, how about you get it right?
