Tough Times for Win 8 and MS

More bad news for Apple. Tablet prices hitting the floor. The Nexus line is also rumored to have a $99 tablet in the works. I'm quite sure more will follow suit.

A $99 Kindle Fire would annihilate the Android tablet competition | ZDNet

BTW.. the DoD buy doesn't surprise me in the least. It wouldn't surprise me also to find that Apple is a big financial backer of Obama.

And just offhand... wth would the DoD do with the iPod Touch? Give them to pilots so they can play rock-and-roll music while shooting stuff down Iron Eagle style?

On another vaguely related thread I posted - seems somewhat desperate.

    That link is in agreement:

Kindel -- until mid-2011 the general manager of Microsoft's Windows Phone developer experience -- also predicted Microsoft would make the move.

"...Microsoft is going to start directly incenting developers to build apps with cash," Kindel wrote at the time. "If I'm right, and we start to see clear evidence that Microsoft is paying for apps, then Windows is in even more trouble than most of us already believe."

Miller pointed out that Microsoft has quietly funded established app developers -- either directly or in some circuitous fashion -- to bring their already-available Android and iOS apps to the Windows platform.
The $99 nexus has been talked about for quite a while. Not exactly news.

Tough for anyone to compete - especially windows.

I already believe windows is in trouble. MS is fortunate to be able to prop it up from other exploits.

Why would that have anything at all to do with Windows itself being in any type of trouble? If you are going to spend 9 figures on a marketing budget, you might as well spend some of that on app development. And if not in-house, pay others /shrug. For companies that allready have finished apps for other systems, porting them is not hard.

I am sure you know much more about it than the guy who was the general manager of Microsoft's Windows Phone developer experience.

    Why don't you ask him?

I can't speak for him - it is not why I think windows is in trouble.

It is an indicator perhaps , but not the cause.

Pilots have been using iPads for some time as replacements for flight manuals:

But I doubt that fighter pilots would use them; however, it would be entirely feasible option for transport pilots, who do not engage in dog fights.
