Microsoft won't wait for 'Blue' to update Windows 8 apps

There's been some worry that Microsoft's Windows team may be waiting until the "Blue" upgrade to Windows 8 and Windows RT to refresh the Microsoft-developed, first-party apps that are bundled with the operating system.

I'm hearing from my contacts that this is not the case. In fact, updates to the Windows Mail, Calendar, Music, and Games apps for Windows 8 and Windows RT may be available to users as soon as this month.

Do you think people are not buying win 8 because of the app. situation?

Why do you think it is that people are not buying it?

All those who haven't bought it - how do you suggest geting them to buy it?

Convertibles should do it on their own. Now, if those don't sell.. Microsoft is in a very bad position.

I think the biggest problem with RT is that it used the same form factor(and really name.. it should have had its own) as the Pro. If you're going to cutdown your op sys to simple apps and go straight tablet, the device should be a lot smaller form factor and far more wieldy. Thats what Apple learned with the iPad Mini. Don't make something the size of the Macbook Air, if all it does is run apps.

And just hopping on the Microsoft website, the Surface Pro is actually out of stock again(as opposed to taking orders with a week lag). They're going to need a bigger production line.

They are doing ok with the Surface Pro. It is a flagship. It is a niche market. Who is buying it - It pros? Some computer enthusiasts?

What about the mass market. It isn't selling. The product offering needs to be changed.
