MSFT is paddling back

Office 2013 might be brand new, but its license agreement is already getting a significant upgrade. The new language represents a welcome change for buyers who prefer traditional licenses that don't require ongoing payments.

Bowing to “feedback from its customers,” Microsoft is changing the terms of the license agreement for the three retail “perpetual license” versions of Office 2013, restoring the terms that had been present in the corresponding agreement for Office 2010.

They are learning. Let's keep the pressure on them for the system. It may take them a little longer to realize what damage they made to the desktop market, but I am sure they will get there also to a resonable solution.

Yes, that sounds better.

As time goes on and the situation with win 8 seems to be getting worse - it becomes more likely they will turn that around, too.

It is straighforward for them to do it.

I am beginning to think they will.

It would be best for them. A massive turn around in sales and great PR will be the result.

No brainer, really.

Let's keep the pressure on them for the system.

Absolutely :thumb:

You got it Phil.

You are absolutely right.

That is exactly the reaction they will get when they turn win 8 around. An over reaction really - because they aren't improving the terms - they are just keeping them the same...Yet there will be great rejoicing. They will gain greatly from that kind of over reaction.

I posted it in another thread somewhere, but if they just give the end user some more options to customize the system to their liking, they can have huge gains in adoption of Windows 8. They have some agenda based stubbornness that is rubbing the consumers the wrong way. They must change us is the beat they are marching to and consumers are rejecting it.

I still hate the ribbon idea as many others do. After that experience, here is Microsoft doing it again. It's getting tiresome.

Come to think of it, I think that was my only reason for rejecting the non-subscription Office 2013

Apparently not.

So, I'll STILL be remaining on Office 2007/2010.

Who said 'never'?

Dunno.

I did say that I wouldn't consider the subscription version, and that I need/want to install on more than one machine.

So, even these new terms won't suit me. But I have several older versions of Office already, so I'll just continue to use them.

Wenda.

Only joking. That was a rhetorical question aimed at some who insist that Microsoft will not give users what they want.
