Enjoy. . .:)

Thought I would revisit to see if anyone has attempted to download and use the Trial being offered. It is always interesting to see if folks were able to use the apps, and find out if it is something they are thinking about purchasing.

I did a D/L while still under Win8 90 day trial?. It was ok, have not gone thru everything as of yet. Bought Win8 pro, and bought Office Pro + 2013 with a HUP. $10. The only "problem" is I still have to save files as an older version because most folks in the distribution have not upgraded yet and a lot of the "features" of 13 disappear.

I did the download of 2013+. You don't have a choice of what and where it installs. I tried to print after install. I couldn't print anything. After getting red faced and angry, I finally found out that it changed the default printer to print to One-Note.

I've signed up for Office 365 am enjoying OneNote, I've used it in the past but I'm really getting stuck into it at the moment. I never realised how powerful and simple this app could be especially when hooked up to Skydrive.

What do you like about it? Are there extra features in the full Office version (as opposed to the free web app or free Windows Store/ Metro version)?

I use the free versions for my grocery shopping list (!) synched with my Windows Phone via Skydrive, but that's as far as I've got with it.

I'm sticking with Office 2007/2010.

I want it on more than one machine, and WILL NOT go the subscription route.

Wenda.

Thank you all for trying out the app. The information your giving will help others to decide whether they should give it a try.
I have been using Office 2013 since it was released as a CP and bought the full suite when it was released. With Office 2013 I made the jump from Office 2007, and have to say this is really a great update.

Thanks. . .

Yes there are a lot more features, I had a free one on my iPad and a free trial on my PC, but they're nothing compared to the full version.
You can sign up to a free month trial for Office 365 with OneNote, that's what I did. After that you just pay around $10 to $12 per month I'd you want to keep using it.
I'm using it to collate all my travel adventures with photos and maps a huge task. I've looked for a decent journal for years and it was sitting right under my nose. And because it's on Skydrive I can access it with any device like the iPad or Android tablet and even keep editing with those while I'm watching TV.
Those devices are limited but good for general editing and showing to friends etc.

You sure can do a lot more with it than keep a shopping list, but it's as simple or powerful as you want it to be.

One thing I do know is that most college students use it, doesn't matter if they've got a Mac or a PC.

My trial is up soon, but I've been using 365 Home Premium Preview. Just like Win 8, it takes a little getting used to. I have it set to sign me into my MS account as soon as I open any Office program and it allows saving to HDD or to your Skydrive. The only real drawback that I've experienced were minor slowdowns while using it on my older laptop (Celeron single core 743 1.3GHz, 2GB 1333 RAM and 5400 RPM HDD, Draft-N wireless). When using it on my desktop, it was much more responsive.

We are using a mix of Office 10 and Office 07 Professionals at work, and files created on 365 worked just fine on the older versions. I did not have any problems with 365 changing my default printer and have been able to print just fine. The only program I haven't used with the preview is Access, but everything else works just fine.

Honestly, just like the Win 8 preview, I am sad to see it end :( If MS changes their license back to allow 3 PC's again for the 2013 version, I will probably get that for the $100-$150 price, but if not I will look deeper into the yearly $100 365 subscription. When this preview expires, I will go back to using 2007 Professional that I was able to get while a student, but as soon as it's affordable I will be upgrading to 2013.
