I like Outlook, moved towards it when it became available. It's clean and simple to use; adopted the Metro style. I really want to change me e-mail address name from "Hotmail" to "Outlook" but that feature is still unavailable unfortunately.

Do you mean you want to change your email address?
    For example from skulblaka@hotmail.com to skulblaka@outlook.com ?

I believe you can do this already if you want, unless someone else has already registered skulblaka@outlook.com (or whatever); as far as I can tell there's nothing to reserve an outlook.com version for you so if you do want to do this, I'd register it sooner rather than later.

Some more info on different ways to do this (and their advantages and disadvantages) here.

I've been using Outlook.com since July, read several issues regarding the .outlook email name issue.
If you open a new account with yourusername@outlook.com it can't be merged with you existing yourusername@hotmail.com account.

I just added an Alias myusername@outlook.com to my myusername@hotmail.com account and you get the outlook.com email in your old hotmail account, when using the outlook.com interface.

Seems to be a lot of posts with people having problems with an outlook.com address, I'm sure there are other ways to accomplish this, the above method worked for me.

Well, yes, that's a method but it's adding an alias. I wanted to actually rename my account which isn't available right now for some reason.

Ah fair enough - I used the rename feature not so long ago so I assumed it was still working, but as you say, it currently seems to be broken.
