Some decent News for Ms (W8 Phones)

Also people really make fun of people who still have a Blackberry. Although I don't think people with a Windows Phone 8 are really being made fun of.

Hi there
Here in Europe the Nokia Lumia's (W8) are just FLYING off the shelves -- the yellow ones seem for some unfathomable reason to be exceedingly popular.

I probably would have got one myself (not a yellow one though) had it been available when I was in the market for a new smart phone --in fact as a 2nd phone ( pay as you go) I might still get one of these.

Blackberry has a terrible image problem --too corporate and these days people regard users as mere "Wage Slaves" --decidedly uncool amongst the younger set who are driving this market a lot.

Cheers
jimbo

I bought a Nokia Lumia 610 with Windows Phone 7.5 a couple of months ago, after killing my last phone (and looking for a cheap replacement; I guess it was cheap as the Lumia 620 with WP8 was just about to arrive).

It's my first touchscreen phone and I've been pleasantly surprised by how good it's been so far.

The only downsides are that the compulsory Zune software, which is limiting as it's the only way to transfer some files, and seemingly doesn't work properly with Windows 8 (it's supposed to be able to synch wirelessly and won't). Also it's not a brilliant phone for apps, due to low memory (and Microsoft still a way to go to build numbers in their app Store).

But overall it's pretty good and a bargain for what it cost me.

I haven't seen a Windows Phone 8 in the wild, but several Windows Phone 7's. It's like meeting a comrade in arms.

That Lumia 620 has been reviewed as probably the one and only and best budget Windows Phone 8. It's rather impressive on Nokia's behalf on how they can make a low end dual core handset and cost like 200 dollars and be WAY better than a comparable android.

This is true, other than the US, Windows Phone is growing rather steadily. In three months. Windows Phone 8 has exceeded 7's marketshare that took it two years to get there. Three months. Also, with Nokia really putting their innovative weight behind Windows Phone, they will be the brand that is associated with Windows Phone, not that they aren't now. Want a Windows Phone, buy a Nokia. Not only do they have an extensive collection of Nokia apps, but other apps optimized for their handsets. There's a rumor that they're looking into solar charging as well....along with that 41 megapixel EOS camera...

I'm looking forward to a future of Nokia innovation with Windows Phone. That has got to be one of the best moves of Microsoft's and Nokia's behalf.

Speaking of innovation, I read today this article about translucent smartphones and how they're possible and how they'll change UI and OS standards. If you ask me, Windows Phone's UI would look GORGEOUS on a translucent screen.

Here in the US, I have yet to see an actual person with a Windows Phone 8 device in the wild.

I do have a Lumina 920 and our local AT&T has said they sell well. That being said, I've never seen another one "in the wild" either.

Plenty available in UK etc

Here's that Horrible Yellow color one I was mentioning from Vodafone -- one of the UK's largest carriers.

Discover Nokia Smartphones on Vodafone’s Dependable Network – Vodafone

Note -- I'm not saying I like Vodafone or their pricing -- just showing that these phones are now Mainstream -- these stores (Vodafone, O2 etc) are available in their droves on every UK town / city centre.

Same in NL,BE,F, L, IS and D

Cheers
