Win7 and Windows 8 GodModes,the complete list.

Windows 7 GodMode has gotten its fair share of time in the limelight, albeit the actual trick is in the GodMode label, rather than the action performed on the latest iteration of the Windows 7 client. The actual trick is rather simple, users need only create a New Folder on the Windows 7 desktop and name it GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. The GodMode moniker can be replaced by any piece of text users desire, but the {Extension CLSID} is essential to the function that the resulting desktop item will get to perform. The GodMode in Windows 7 is nothing more than the All Tasks folder which centralizes a list with all Control Panel items. Another interesting point is that not only will the GodMode trick work in Windows 7 and Windows Vista, but also in the next iteration of the OS, Windows 8.

Kernel Work Will Continue with Windows 8
Published by Mire_Bat January 20, 2010 in Windows 8. 0 Comments
Windows 7 comes with a new core, affectionately called MinWin, but not a new kernel. This detail is extremely important, and was underlined by Windows developers a number of times, including Technical Fellow Mark Russinovich. Microsoft did not overhaul the Windows kernel in Windows 7, and most probably wonâ??t be revamping the lowest level of the operating system in Windows 8.

But this does in no way exclude the fine tuning of the kernel for Windows 8. Optimizations have already been introduced in Windows 7, and because of MinWin, Vistaâ??s successor offers customers a more componentized platform. For the first time since Windows and Internet Explorer became an item, IE8 can be removed from the OS with no impact on the overall functionality of the platform, otherwise than the fact that the traditionally default browser can be made into a â??bench warmer.â?

Nice find Brian.

That kills the old rumors of a new kernel, until the next rumors appear anyway ;)

Would be nice if they did build a new kernel, but think they will get more mileage out this one before starting anything new.
