Microsoft reveals Xbox LIVE will be built into Windows 8

Microsoft has revealed that its Xbox LIVE service will be built into PCs in the future.

Mike Delman, Microsoft’s vice president of global marketing in the interactive entertainment business unit, revealed the company’s plans in an interview this week. Speaking to The Seattle Times, Delman confirmed that Windows 8 will include Xbox LIVE integration:

The theme these days seems to be integration, synchronization, cross platform conformity. The idea is sound. To be able to access anything, anywhere, any time. The quest will be to be the one who provides that. Whoever does it more seamlessly will win out. Although the cult of Apple will always choose Apple unless they really drop the ball. I suppose that is true of Windows fans, if given a comparable alternative, they will choose the Windows version. Until Skynet... :D

Asked whether Xbox LIVE would be a cloud media service that works across Windows PCs as well as phones and Xbox, Delman confirmed that Xbox LIVE will be the “pervasive media service” across devices. He also revealed that the company’s Xbox LIVE and SkyDrive storage asssets will be unified and that the change will be good for Microsoft and “good for consumers.”
WinRumors revealed earlier this week that Microsoft is currently experimenting with Silverlight applications on Xbox and Windows 8. The company will reveal its true three screens and a cloud strategy at its BUILD developer conference in September. Xbox is clearly a very important part of the overall strategy and a strong consumer brand.

This part of the strategy is intersting ... but let's wait to see.

There are a few games I'd EVER buy an Xbox for, Halo Series, Forza Motorsport 4, and Kinect games.

Hmmm, I've read a rumor that there will be an Xbox 360 slated for Christmas this year running Windows 8. If that proves true, I don't know. That would interesting I'd guess. But if that is true, it would be a matter of time before someone figures out how to get Xboxing on a PC.....I wanna play Xbox games!
