Samsung confirms no Windows RT tablets for US

The company's decision is based in part upon feedback from retail partners, which suggested that such a product would be only modestly successful in the marketplace. Samsung also pointed to the lack of education about Windows RT, and suggested that it would require too much of an investment to properly inform consumers of the differences between it and Windows 8.

Message hopefully buried with the haters.

Ignorance is bliss.

Hi there
very true

same as we say for DAB Radio (Dead And Buried) - old fashioned FM is still far better (especially in a car) and decent portable Internet radios really do make DAB obsolete --even though the DAB technology has only really just got off the ground --shows all new stuff doesn't merit making it to mainstream.

We used to call Windows XP Windows eXPensive while Windows NT was known as Windows NeanderThal or Windows No Thanks.

However when all else fails people I suppose can always try this version on their shiny new Samsung tablets !!!

Cheers

I doubt if you'll be able to find the story with your one eye and it might drive that knife in further. But go and have a look, you like to keep us informed on the latest Surface trends. I'd do it myself but then people will call me a Microsoft lover.

Do you ever do anything but attack those who point out anything that you disagree with? You never discuss the issues but just keep having a go at the individual. It would appear that I'm inside your head and you can't shake me loose.

This is a Windows forum, why don't you look for positive Windows stories instead of negative ones, or at least a mixture of both. You go and get that story and I promise I'll listen to your problems with Windows 8.

In other words show me that you can look at both sides.

Here Ray this is from a person who actually owns one.

A lot of the people that are bashing the Surface have either never touch/seen one in person or are just an Apple Fan boy. Before the flaming begins just know I had an iPad3 and it was pain trying to use it for my daily IT needs. So I went and picked up a Surface RT to give it a try. Two days later my iPad3 was on eBay and I have never been happier. Also a lot of people don't know this but Windows RT is still a Full OS missing some little parts from the x86 counter parts and coded for ARM CPU's, that’s it. It is still a fully functional OS and the Surface RT handles it just fine (after the firmware updates).

As far as Samsung goes, all they have to do is put a little note on the Start screen and on the box saying, "Just like the iPad the only place you can purchase your programmes is from the Windows Store."

I personally think there's something else going on with Samsung.

This is just gossip but I believe they're also trying to get their own OS ready, and it could also be that their Galaxy Tabs are starting to see some success, who knows.

Yes it is a Windows forum and this post was about Windows. All this post reflected was the fact that Samsung, who is a major tablet producer, has decided to forego Windows 8 RT. They still appear to be keen on Windows 8 Pro. Nobody mentioned anything about the performance of the Surface RT. I think that you are seeing all sorts of demons in any post that you view as being negative.

I'm pretty sure I know the difference between negative and positive although after reading that story of yours the other day I'm not so sure. Anyway you'll be happy to know that Scott Stein the Editor of Cnet is very happy with Surface Pro and Windows 8 and that is a big deal considering he is the epitome of an Apple Fanboy.

So maybe Windows 8 is not as bad as some of you claim.
