Here comes Microsoft Surface Pro, 64 bits and all

Microsoft's Windows 8 Pro version of the Surface will arrive soon, giving consumers probably one the highest performing tablets to date.

Microsoft is already dropping not-so-subtle hints that the device is coming "early in 2013." And now it appears to have made its debut at the FCC.

Let's look at what else Microsoft is saying about the 2-pound tablet that sets it apart from the current Surface RT tablet.

Is there some scale on what windows applications it can run in sufficient speed? I'm interested in a tablet that also can run quickbooks and other professional software. also like to know if it can remote easily in a PC (this also requires computing power).

I'm thinking of replacing our 7 year old laptop (it has dualcore, 7200 rpm HDD and 2 GB, so it is pretty good for the age) that we use to either just browse, remote into the actual PC, or run some software like quickbooks.

i know it will be too slow to run extensive CAD, and be fast enough for browsing and the stupid app games. But what about the medium power software?

Oh thanks. it is pretty powerful both in CPU and RAM. It can easily do more applications than the small screen makes feasible.

The Surface Pro specs are top notch which is why you can't compare it with a regular tablet then complain about the price. It's more like an ultrabook in a tablet form factor which makes the price competitive. I'm curious to see what 3rd party vendors bring out to compete with it because I will be grabbing a Windows 8 Pro tablet when they are released

Considering the battery life, I'd wait for broadwell before getting a tablet.
