Rumor: Microsoft preparing 3 new Surface tablets for 2013

If the claims are true, we'll be seeing 8.6-inch, 11.6-inch, and 14.6-inch models available sometime next year.

Despite signs that its Surface tablets haven't yet set the world on fire, sales-wise, Microsoft appears to be moving full-speed ahead on plans to expand its lineup in 2013 with models of varying screen size, including a whopping 14.6-inch version.

According to MS Nerd, who has proven accurate in past leaks of Microsoft plans, the computing giant has a trio of new Surface slates in the works, including a "Mini" model. While not as small as an iPad mini, this Surface RT supposedly comes with an 8.6-inch screen and uses a Qualcomm processor rather than an Nvidia Tegra one.

I'd like to see how they compare with the newer Windows 8 convertible laptops.

What's really peaking my interest is the rumored AMD APU for the Surface Pro 2, which has better graphics power, which is best for Windows 8 with its apps and everything else on the high end of Desktop software.

Also, an 11 inch screen sounds REAL nice, probably the real sweet spot for a tablet PC. This is making me wait it out for a year on purchasing a Surface tablet, since I don't have a legitimate for one until a year from now.

+1 to that, being an AMD fan I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those for a look see. I likely can't afford any of them on my limited income but it's still nice to know there are options. Pricing will as always be interesting.

aren't amd going to be integrating arm architechture on their dye as well as the x86 from next year as well?

read that somewhere...can't remember where now.

well here's a link to it an article on it anway.(not the one i read but close enough)
AMD will integrate ARM processors in its 2013 x86 APUs | The Verge

with this addition to amd chips, surface style tablets will be able to run both arm based store apps and x86 applications.
and i should have read that article.....just security lol, ah well there goes a great opportunity to have cross platform applications on one device.

Interesting indeed. MS trying to take another couple of stabs at the pad market. Killing them (OEMs) softly I think the parallels the song.

And ARM processor in an AMD APU....well then that WILL be an Advanced Processing Unit!

I don't know, it sounds iffy. They would have to develop it as a hybrid unit, where it's function is mostly ARM (for battery life) and turning on the x86 half to run Desktop software and shut off or sleep afterwards. Seems interesting....

Is it me, or are the ipad mini commercials basically insinuating that you have to buy a full sized ipad, and THEN buy an ipad mini to take good advantage of it? I don't get why they'd make commercials showing the ipad mini, is just a mini ipad. It's in the name....
