I suppose it is possible to use it as your main desktop os.

That doesn't mean it is very good for that.

Oh ok, just read through the article, just sums up what I've thought about desktops. They're touch AIOs not black boxes.

Only tech heads use black boxes. (The conclusion that MANY have already come to at this point in time)

What's with this tech heads crap? In my crowd of friends and family the desktop PC is by far the PC device of choice and use. As far as your so called "tech heads" go, I'm it. Laptops are, for most of them, a convenience item that they aren't going to buy unless they absolutely need one. Maybe I'm just hanging out with the wrong crowd, or maybe not. The few times I've showed Windows 8 to anybody they thought is was some kind of joke I was playing on them. Unfortunately the jokes on us desktop PC users. The ones that put Microsoft where it is today.

I say tech heads because more and more and more people (age group demographics at play here) are going more for laptop PCs than they are desktops. Every year, there's a report from the OEMs saying that desktop PC sales are declining. That can be said because they last longer and can be upgraded when needed, but when was the last time you heard or saw a normal person install Windows and pop in a new video card? This would be standard place for tech heads, like a good majority of people on this forum. I may be hanging out with the wrong crowd too, but the crowd I'm around all have laptop PCs. A few have and use a desktop, but laptops are primarily used. From my personal account, I can name all the desktop PCs I've worked on past few years, and I've only worked like five or six desktops versus like probably 33 laptops and netbooks.

Speaking of Windows 8 then, I've yet to come across someone who thought it was a joke, but then again, I must be hanging out with the wrong crowd.
