    Yeah... amazing!
As if W8 will be the last OS Microsoft will sell until the end of times! By 2015 or 2020 we will be at Windows 10 or 11 and it will be again something completely different with no continuity with W8 whatsoever.

I think Windows 8 is good. Got a new laptop today (HP G6-2284CA) that came with it, and I haven't been bothered by anything other than the bloatware installed by HP.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the computer itself. A lot of people don't seem to like HP, so I'm hoping that I don't have any major issues with mine.

I have bought 3 lower end HP laptops ($350) and all three are still working fine. They are a little slow but still going. I upgraded the last one I bought with a SSD drive and that mad a big difference. The oldest one is about 6 years pld.

I think Windows 8 oem needs lots of Windows Updates.

    IE 10 also.

Windows should be like Volkswagons or Quaker Oats--- Reliable.
If it ain't broke don't "fix" it with new versions !
Test any upgrades to make sure they work as intended.
I suppose putting out new versions of Windows & letting their customers test them saves Microsoft a lot of money.

I personally don't like Windows 8. I've tried the new Metro start screen, and I don't see the point? It's change for the sake of touch screens, but I will never use a touch screen for my home computer. Why should I deal with mono-colored blocks on a mono-colored background..

I did all the start menu customizations and tweaks, and it just feels tacky. I went back to Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have to say, Window 7 is nearly perfect the way it is. There's no reason to change perfection, unless you're a Microsoft executive who wants to make more money.

So far I am struggling with managing multiple tabs and screens. Every time I move my cursor, something I don't want pops up, sidebar, date and time, very annoying, and the entire screen will suddenly resize itself without any command from me. Also, I will be working on something and the screen will suddenly vanish and I will be back at the start screen for no discernible reason. I would also like a start button and a search button in the start-up menu.

Then you should install a freeware called Classic Shell:

Apprently, they have released a lot of new versions only this month to fix issues but I haven't really updated mine for maybe 2 months now cause I rarely get into the feel of logging on to my W8 RP installed of my netbook which I rarely use at home unless my desktop went broke.

Below is a screenshot showing my RAM usage when nothing much is running. It shows that I am using 2 GB with 1.9GB cached. What does this mean exactly and does this reduce the amount of RAM available to other programs to 2GB out of the 4? Thanks. 45698
