And some people would not know a good OS if it hit them in the forehead. Don't like change, funny guy.

If by short term you mean many many years of w7 support you are right.

I brought Windows 8, and after about 2 days i uninstallied it.
I spent most of my time on desktop, which was pretty much like Windows 7, however something was missing from that desktop that made it not feel like a normal Windows desktop. Plus outlook 2013 was being silly and not working with my hotmail account (I know its not final, but still)

Anyway for me i found Windows 8 pointless because i dont use any of the metro apps. I have no idea why i brought. I must of felt like wasitng $14.99

What I Think of Windows 8

When I bought the new computer with it already installed (x64) It was a pain in the rear.
I tweaked it a bit & like it a lot more now.
I really would like to not have to use a password to log on.
I'm the Owner & Administrator & the only one to use the computer.
I would like the option to use or not use a password.
I had that option in XP.
    Not any more, it seems.

    Hello Brink.
    I followed your instructions.
I'm not restarting my computer right now to test it.
I trust you enough to provide good information.
Thank you very much for helping me with this problem.

Support for Windows XP is ending on April 8, 2014

I would estimate end of support for Windows 7 will be around 2019.
