What do normal people think of new Windows 8 PCs?

  1. #121

I really don't care what others think about Windows 8 or anything else. I care about what I think and the experts that I work with and my friends and family, except my BIL as he's an Apple guy! (just kidding!)

Even psychiatrists don't try to define normal. They only define what they call abnormal behaviour.

So I guess they would call W8 native state abnormal!

no idea what normal is...i'm normal from my perspective.

some computer users are just crazy, honestly i do believe there is a very small minority of savvy pc users the world over.

some non savvy ones i've encountered.

here's my cpu....picks up his entire pc tower...wait dude that's not a cpu..
fix my hdd....hands me a memory stick
why can't i install microsoft windows on here..it's already on....
why doesn't the licence key activate my office package...well that's your windows licence key
my computer is broken so i took a hammer to my hard drive....why??
sorry sir but your graphics card has blown up(litteraly burnt out)...i don't see how that can be possible my laptop is fine.

that's just from the last month or so.

    mac users.

sir you have a virus..mac's don't get those....yeah right sure.
    i'm sorry but you have a virus....but mac's don't get those...

marketing at it's best fooling mac users for years.

    same old same old.

I have commented here and received very professional answers. However, I love 7 and will not upgrade, ever, until I can boot up and have my old desktop come up as it now does with 7. I don't want to have to press "enter" or anything else. I am a trader, I need a dependable system. I think millions of users are just like me. Why doesn't Microsoft see what we really need and give it to us. I am not part of Facebook or Twitter. I need rapid access to sites that help my trading, enough said.

Live tiles with finance/stock apps with stocks pinned to the Start Screen, BAM!

I friend of mine was working a sales shift at Costco and she told me a couple came in confused about Windows 8 as their son installed it on their PC, but NEVER showed them how to use it!!! She is the friend of mine who used Windows 8 since the Developer Preview and on, so she's rather fluent in it. She told me today that she showed them that everything can be pinned to Start, how to close apps and some general navigation, and app snap as well. Apparently, that solved their problems with 8 and seemed more interested in using it.

I was also told the top sales person is this lady that uses Windows 2000 on her PCs at home..... and my friend schooled her in the finer points of Windows 8. As it was her first day with sales in electronics, she had a pamphlet thing about Windows 8 and that lady was saying to her how Windows 8 was kind of confusing to use. Her response she told me, "Ummm, Windows 8 is the easiest thing to use once you spend half an hour using."

This is the most normal person I know, to an extent, with technology.
