Survey Reveals Companies’ Early Windows 8 Reactions and Plans

This is interesting.

"70% of respondents indicated their organizations are already fully on, or in process of moving to Windows 7, suggesting that their organizational environments are or will soon be ready to make the next move – to Windows 8."

They lost me right away, with the above nonsense. A ridiculous extrapolation if I ever seen one...

I'd have to agree with you on that one. While they may be ready why would spend even more money to do it all again to go to Windows 8. If they were going to byte the bullet I would think they would just skip 7 and go right to 8 and save some bucks. Going to 7 instead or 8 infers to me that they aren't in any big hurry to even consider a move to 8. I could se a mixed environment with some Windows 8 devices though. As Coke said though, its still interesting reading.

The survey really is worthless. Why because on the average it usually takes up to six years (not conclusive) for large companies/corporations to make the jump to a new OS or Server OS. When reinstalling a new OS on up to 500 (little own lesser) computers a company has to really take into consideration the cost of the product, the cost for IT involvement, the cost of retraining (probably the biggest cost), the age of the install base system, etc. (you can probably thing of a dozen more things to add).

So, in the long run it would appear that win 7 will be the next installed base OS. This is primary because of the learning curve and the unproven ability of win 8 to serve the needs of any company/corporation.
