Windows 8 Feature Wish List Item: Intelligent WEI Scores

The Windows Experience Index score is bound to evolve in Windows 8, just as it was the case with the boost it received in Windows 7 compared to Windows Vista, and this is an excellent chance for Microsoft to do much more than just go to a fresh, higher mark and account for new hardware hitting the market.

It’s an opportunity to perhaps introduce intelligent WEI scores for users of the next major version of Windows.

As far as I’m concerned, having a Windows feature that assesses the hardware and produces a score offering users insight on just how powerful their computer really is, should be only a part of Intelligent WEI scores.

Let’s look at the de description the Redmond company is providing for the Windows Experience Index: “Ever wonder how a PC you own—or want to buy—stacks up against others? The Windows Experience Index is one way to find out.

“This feature, updated for Windows 7, rates the performance of key hardware components such as the CPU, disk drive, and graphics card. The PC is then given a score between 1.0 and 7.9.

Finally! Basing a computer on it's lowest score is dumb; they should add a feature that take the average of all the scores.
And it should be between 1.0 and 10.0, not 7.9... that's just ridiculous if you ask me.
They should have a registry cleaner built into the system tools as well.

One feature I'd put on a wishlist; and this is just because I think it would be cool; is when you're navigating through your folders, have a preview feature available; when you highlight a folder, have it show in the left pane the folders inside that folder as well as files, so you can quickly identify whether or not what you want is in that folder.

Also, bring back the Windows Media Player mini-toolbar!
