Windows 8 Expected features

1. Touch Screens: We have already saw Touch Screen version of OS ie Windows 7, so it is sure that there must be a lot of improvements in it, may be like multi-touch capability and lot more.

2. Biometrics Support: New Windows 8 would have inbuilt Biometric password login support, now who need to type a password when you have your face or eye or finger print to do your work. Having said that it automatically enhances the security feature manifolds.

3. Faster Boot up: Ever since I started using computer the only thing that I hated is the Boot Screen and I hate waiting to let it get load, on average Vista 40 secs, Windows 7 took 27 secs to load, so we may expect some more loss of seconds in Windows 8.

4. An App Store: Apple’s App Store has been a raging success, as has Android’s Market. So Windows 8 appears as if it will also have an app store called, not surprisingly, “Windows Store.” But there are no indications how Microsoft will manage the countless thousands of apps available for Windows, or many other details about the store at this point.

Better identity management. The decks lay out a vision in which user accounts don’t just live on one PC — you can carry them from computer to computer, and to other devices. Identities can live and be backed up in the cloud. As a slide puts it, “Identity evolves from machine centric to user centric.”

Not keen on the Touch Screen concept as I am a clean freak and would spend all my time wiping finger prints off my screen.

I'd like a complete image backup/restore feature that works as well as Acronis True Image.

And an improved msconfig that works more like Autoruns.

And improvements to Task Manager that provide the options available with Process Explorer.

And the ability to re-program ALL keyboard shortcuts using ANY key on the keyboard.

And a better un-install feature that works more like Revo so you can remove all the remnants left behind by the normal one (and they always leave remnants).

Geez, I can think of all sorts of things I'd love to see - many for which I have 3rd party programs as workarounds.

Is this just going to be an excuse for a second Web Browser?

15 ~25sec Wow... It is good. Does it including all application load or velocity test result?
We test some platform and it almost takes 4x~6x sec to boot complete. (It is HDD base platform)
I think the anti-virus takes a long time to delay the boot up.

My Computer

I would say you are right then Windows 7 came out with this 15 sec boot time yes it loads windows in XX amount off seconds but it needs to load all the other programs as well.

I would like a Quicker Shutdown speed as if your Shutting down in Safe mode while still in Normal mode

Also I would like a Better Defragmenter and also Microsoft Security Essentials Pre-Installed because Windows Defender is an awful AS

First what's wrong with Windows defrag, if you have it turned on it does it for you without asking as needed, second MSE is simple to install, what are you waiting for

The only feature on the list I'm interested in is the faster boot time, the other features such as touch screen or biometric support don't have any appeal to me.

I have a Toshiba laptop with fingerprint reader and currently have it disabled because it's a PITA instead of being useful.

Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
My Dell's fingerprint reader is useless! No matter how many times I try, I can never even get two of the five swipes to match when setting it up! I certainly don't trust it to log me on with! I might also want an additional tool as a Graphical Front end to sxstrace.exe with some more curative ability. It is fine for me to use, but to an average user it is completely useless and means a complete re-install.
