Imagine the feedback if the desktop had been left much as it is in Windows 7, for the desktop users, but with all the improvements of the core OS and the apps provided as a option? How different may have been the reaction?

Ray, I reckon that's what we all wanted, and would all be happy with. So long as the W7 eye-candy stayed.

BTW, where in Oz are you? I'm near Wollongong. PM me if you want to keep it on the 'QT'.

It would have been perfect. Everything that I have works 100% in Windows 8, but I just want a 'native' desktop, not one cobbled together through third party software. I'm holding off from fully transferring to Windows 8, as I want to see what Microsoft has in store for us with Windows Blue and whatever else. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft played some more tricks to foil the third party programs and force the MPI on us once again.

    BTW, I'm in Victoria, Gippsland.

That's what's worrying me about 'Blue'. BTW, got family down that way.
    Myrtleford. God-daughter lives there.

    Cheers, mate.

Myrtleford is lovely country, we were looking at moving to Mansfield, which isn't that far as the crow flies, but settled on Gippsland as it's closer to my wife's and my family. Can't beat the country life.
