Google, Samsung to sell Chrome laptop for $249

Google and Samsung are introducing a lightweight laptop computer with a price similar to smaller tablet computers. The computer unveiled on Thursday will sell for $249 and run on an operating system revolving around Google's Chrome Web browser .

Like other so-called Chromebooks, this laptop doesn't have a hard drive. It functions like a terminal dependent on an Internet connection to get to information and applications stored in
large data centres run by Google Inc or other technology providers.

    Borderline pathetic.
Too limited in it's capabilities for $249. At that price I'd rather have a Nexus 7, Kindle Fie HD or even a netbook.

Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
Just for grins, call around a few days after these become available and see if the sales folks even know what it is.

One of our local news reporters uses the catch phrase "Don't waste your money" - for $249 I can do a lot better.
