Hi I have installed Windows 8 RP and everything is going ok since i have updated the drivers to stop the system crashing. I can use the system fine now with no hanging, but there is always a but if i go to enable Hyper-V the system does and then reboots and on the second reboot just sits at the black windows screen with the round circle spinning around before eventually it stops moving and the PC hangs.
So my spec of my PC is
Intel i5 2500k - VT is enabled in the BIOS - CPU is OC to 4.4ghz but have also tried it on stock settings Hyper-V still crashes and then I have to revert back before Hyper-V was enabled.
16GB DDR3 RAM
2TB SATA III - OS loaded to this disk on a partition as I have Dual boot because of the issues with Win8RP. I first off only had the Win8RP image so its not the dual boot causing the issue.
750GB SATA II Hybrid with Nand Flash 4GB to make it similar to an SSD
2gb 6970 - using a ATI Windows 8 RP driver released in May this year
USB3.0 ICC card - Driver updated to Win7-64bit as was unstable on Win8 driver
PCI TPLINK Wireless-N card - Driver updated to Win7-64bit as was unstable on Win8 driver
Updated system drivers to latest from Gigabyte website.
I have also reloaded Win8RP with no WIFI card, USB3 ICC or HD 6970 card installed and just used onboard gfx with HDD connected and everything goes well except for enabling Hyper-V again so i ruled out my addons being the issue.
I have also disabled HPRET in the BIOS to see if that helps but hasnt IMO.
3rd time around of installing OS I used the ACHI driver from Gigabytes website which seemed to make things smoother.
So I have got Win8RP working just cant enable bloody Hyper-V can anyone help or advise why it could be causing the hanging?
As you can see I have tried a fair bit myself but the next step is debugging it, will it of saved a dmp before and after of enabling the Hyper-V?
Cheers Ryan
