Virtualize IE8 on XP

Hi, I have KGuard DVR, and unfortunately can't view the cameras in Win 8, only in WinXP with IE8. Can u tell me how to virtualize IE8 on Win 8.1? Thank you.

Hi svt11 did you try adjusting Internet Explorer Compatibility View Settings?

My recommendation is to install Windows XP on a virtual machine in the native Hyper-V (only available in Windows 8 / 8.1 Pro and Enterprise editions), or using VMware Player or VirtualBox (both free) if you are running the basic Windows 8 or 8.1. To install Windows XP on a virtual machine you naturally need valid XP install media. If you do not have one you can test the IE8 / XP setup for free for 30 days using one of Microsoft's ready made free test virtual machines. This way you could at least test if it works as you'd expect before starting a hunt of XP on eBAy or Amazon.

Microsoft has a service called Modern.IE to let users to virtually test any valid IE / Windows combination, in your case IE8 / Windows XP. To start go to Modern.IE website.

On Modern.IE front page click Virtual Machines:
Select your virtualization program (Hyper-V, VMware, VirtualBox), select Windows XP with IE8:
There are two files to download, save both files to same folder, run the .exe file to extract the virtual machine, run your virtualization program setting up a vm using the downloaded and extracted vhd as an existing vhd.

That's it, you have now 30 days to test how your system runs on IE8 and Windows XP. Here the free Modern.IE Windows XP vm I just set up:
It took me about 4 minutes to download the vm, setup it on Hyper-V and boot to vm's desktop.

According to the instructions and license terms here, the Modern IE VMs work for 90, and not 30 days:

Yes, with rearm. To keep it simple and underline the Modern IE virtual machines temporary test purpose I mentioned 30 days validity which is given without rearm.
