    Not enough Physical Memory... Error message

    Just received the below error message when starting my VMware Player Windows 10 TP Virtual machine after updating my Windows 8.1 host system (October 14 Windows Update).

    I fixed the error by uninstalling optional update KB2995388

    Edit: My host machine has 16 GB of Ram with 4 GB allocated to the Virtual Machine.

    Yes that's the culprit.

    I had the same errors, I started the VM just after the update and so it was a lucky guess that KB 2995388 was at fault.

    Fixing a memory leak was one of the main objectives of the update according to the MS literature.

    LOL!

    This fix is from VMware communities:
    As a workaround:

    Open the config.ini file located at C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation.

    Add this line:

    vmmon.disableHostParameters = "TRUE"

    Save & reboot your PC.

    Tovad that was one of the many solutions I tried including run VMware as administrator.

    After using System restore to restore my system to before installing Octobers 14 Windows updates and realizing my Virtual Machine was now starting normally with no errors it was just a matter of finding which update was causing the error.

    @Tovad

    Thank you for posting that particular workaround

    It still leaves a point in question as to whom has the onus to correct this anomoly, Microsoft or VMWare?

    It would be interesting to pinpoint the exact cause of the memory lockdown for future reference and troubleshooting as there may be other issues yet to be disclosed.

    The config.ini trick works with vm player:
    I copied the config.ini file I found at C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Player to my desktop
    I then added the line vmmon.disableHostParameters = TRUE and saved it.
    I then copied the new config.ini file to both C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Player and also to
    C:\Users\Tobias\AppData\Roaming\VMware because I noticed the last path was written in the VMware.log file
    After I rebooted all my VM's worked...

    VMWARE has updated and the workaround is no longer required and VM integration is now working OK.

    IMO if you've hidden the Windows Update in question you can now safely re-install it to update your system and fix the memory leak.
