For those of you who use Virtual Box a new upgrade is on the street. Version 4.3.4 is now available for download. . .Good luck with it haven't test it yet. . .:)
Remember Virtual Box is open source, hence it is free for those who wish not to pay for VMWare Workstation.

Hi there

VMware PLAYER is also free for those that want to use VMWARE products -- Over the years I've found the VMware offering far more stable and gives far better performance (especially graphics) than the VBOX offerings -- even on LINUX systems as HOST.

HYPER-V could also be another possibility for those running Windows 8 / 8.1 Hosts.

I just feel VBOX has lost its edge over the years and I don't really like the direction ORACLE is going in -- a bit too much like APPLE trying to lock people into its products.

However that's what a MARKET is --you are FREE to choose.

Performance-related, VBOX improved over the years but they just compete with VMware and add new features that mostly remain labeled as 'experimental'. VMware doesn't provide experimental 3D acceleration while VBOX does. And now for 4.3, we get touch functionality for VMs but older good features still need improvement.

VBOX still remains the best free solution if you consider to count all features. Some VBOX features like cloning and snapshots are very good and they lack in the free VMware Player so one free product isn't the same as the other.

I have always liked vbox, but I'm a vmware guy. I use vmware workstation. Just upgraded my 8.0 license to 10.0, but haven't been able to try it out yet.

You will find one really nice upgrade in 10, and that is the speed. Seems that VMWare found a way to speed workstation up. . .really enjoy the new speed increase.

Hmmmm...never found Workstation 8.0 to be slow in any way.
