Win 8 screen size in Virtualbox

    Hi Vince53,

Set one of the video modes to the native resolution of the monitor you are using - select that then go to fullscreen. Works a treat!

It tells me that I am using a generic computer. I wonder if I were to dig out my drivers and install them on 8 if that would solve the problem.

    Hi Vince,

    It should look like this:-

I'm running in a window at the 1600x900 setting without bars but I have the option to go to 1920 x 1080 then fullscreen. No drivers loaded.

Thanks, Mad Horseman. But I've abandoned my VM 8 Preview and I'm using it on a partition now, and I have full screen.

Like in Mad Horeseman's screenshot: You get many resolutions (not that many as in VMware), but they dissapear when you install VBox Additions.

The screen then streches but default there is only a 1024x768. If you uninstall the VBox display adapter and use the standard one then you have the resolution choice back, and you can add extra custom resolutions as te7 discovered previously.

You cannot use custom resolutions with the WDDM driver (am I correct?)

In VirtualBox 4.1.10 it's still a problem but the WDDM driver gets better and better with each release.

That is correct. You cannot use custom resolutions with the WDDM driver.

A new preview for additions 4.1.11 is available:

    http://www.virtualbox.org/download/t...1.11-76937.iso

Some extra WDDM fixes are included.

It can be used with Vbox 4.1.10

I would advise against the latest VBox Additions. I tried it and had to reinstall Win 8 in VirtualBox (64 bit).

I guess I was lucky. They refused to install on my system.
