Blank screen on Virtual Machine Connection

Hi, I'm facing strange problem with Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro. I have tried to create new virtual machine and download TFS 2010 vhd, but the problem is equal. After starting virtual machine, Virtual Machine Connection screen is blank. Virtual machine state is Running and it's consuming CPU, but it cannot be used as screen is blank.

I have same problem with two separate PCs. The one I'm working on now has new i7 + 32GB + AMD Radeon HD 7900.

Any ideas how to proceed?

Hi there,

You can try to restart, reset or shutdown from the controls,

after you connect.

If this doesn't work I think some settings need to be changed for that VM.
First turn it off and then change disk type, RAM, CPU display (if possible) one at the time.

If you get it working, installing the integration components is recommended to improve workflow on a resizable screen.

You will probably need a working VM (successfully connect and see something on screen) before you can install TFS.

I'm no expert but I hope you find something useful regarding the issue.

Hi, and thanks for suggestions. Unfortunately none of them changes the situation... :(

I download ready made vhd, it has TFS and other stuff installed (please see Visual Studio 2012 Application Lifecycle Management Virtual Machine and Hands-on-Labs / Demo Scripts - Brian Keller - Site Home - MSDN Blogs). I did it just to see if blank screen problem would disappear with it, but no.

It seems that VM is running properly, only problem is that nothing is shown in Virtual Machine Connection window (see attached image, only black background).

If I create new VM, I cannot even install the OS since window is black already when VM is started.

Any more ideas?
