Hi all,

I was trying to clear my office CPU stuffs for the next user.
However, i deleted the only user account for the PC, windows 8
BUT after i shut down and restart, it still shows me that deleted user name & prompt me for the password!
I tried to enter back my password BUT it does not work :(
I am not sure why the deleted account is there, my assumption is after i deleted, i will be able to login automatically without entering any credentials or selecting any user account to proceed.
Feeling so helpless...
Someone please advise me what to do :(

Thanks in advance!

I'm a Windows 7 user, I'm guessing here; can the built-in Admin account be activated from "without"? I wonder if the deleted account can be reinstated just long enough to solve the problem, then safely deleted if no longer needed. By "without" I mean from any kind of OS usb or dvd boot that can bypass normal Windows for now.

Welcome to the forum.

I have no solution, only an explanation of the situation.

All processes in Windows run under a user account, everything you do in Windows is done with a user account. There are no and can be no exceptions to this. This is a core concept in Windows, as in Linux and the Mac. When Windows starts it asks for the name of the user account you wish to use, and the password to verify you are the legitimate owner of that account. Only then can the login proceed.

Once an account has been deleted it is gone. There is no bringing it back.

But I do wonder what exactly you did. You can't normally delete the user account you are logged in with.

A reinstall of Windows may be the only solution. For a new user that might not be a bad idea in any case.

Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciate it. Probably going to try asking around my colleagues if they have any solution for it.
Need to check with HR if she have the OS CD/USB drive. Yup the problem is i am not able to bypass the windows user login currently.
But in another way it is kind of funny that windows allow me to delete the user account too?
And then prompting me to login with a password when the user account is gone :(
