cannot connect to my microsoft account, stuck in local

hi am having a string of problems with my microsoft account all brought about (i think) because of a problem with the audio system, i am now stuck in a local account,(having followed advice from a thread i followed on windows support). every time i try to change back to my microsoft account i get as far as signing in to my local account then it just says 'please wait' and goes no further (had it sat like this for an hour!) anyone have any ideas what i can do? thank you

Log into the Microsoft side and delete the Live account on there, then go through the process of creating a new User Live ID on the Laptop, which should create a new Live account with Microsoft.
